Welcome to
Following in the footsteps of its older sibling - Chrysalis Community Choir - the motto of the choir is
Making Music . Making Friends . Making a Difference.
Making Music
CKC meets every Wednesday evening at Broadway Baptist Church from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and learn a range of music from Pharrell Williams to Lionel Bart and teaches children vocal skills and performance art.
Making Friends
CKC is open to ALL children from Year 1 to Year 6 regardless of ability and within the hour there will be a break with time to get to know each other and make new friends.
Making a Difference
CKC is ‘twinned’ with The Ark - a day centre run by UK charity Global Care, caring for up to 15 children with disabilities in rural Uganda, where facilities for children with disabilities are extremely limited.
For all their families, all impoverished, it is a struggle to meet basic needs, let alone the more complex needs of a disabled child.
At The Ark children receive healthy meals, training in basic life skills where appropriate, and light physical therapy. When appropriate, they help children attend school – although this can be challenging due to cultural attitudes towards disability.
CKC will put on concerts during the year to raise money to further the work of The Ark and ensure more children experience the warm and caring environment. Our aim is to see real change in the lives of these desperately vulnerable children and CKC members will learn first hand how our fundraising is making a difference.
The choir meets for approx. 8 months of the year
Our last concert raised over £1000 for The Ark and our next concert date is Sunday 3rd December at 3pm.
If you would like to register please contact the Chrysalis office on 01494 58115 or email office@chrysalis.org.uk.
